Review: Nusa Lembongan is seriously one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been lucky enough to get to see. The water is crystal clear and the weather is beautiful. So of course, what else is there to do but look for a gym on Nusa Lembongan.

Everyone who seems find this place is equally surprised to find a gym on Nusa Lembongan but there is one here. JS Brother's Gym is a tiny one room gym with no fan or air conditioning. The equipment is dated, and basic, and seems to be the kind of benches and weights you may have started with in your garage as a skinny teenager. But it is not this that makes this one of the weirdest places I have every trained.

Two things really stood out. The first was the decoration which seemed to be amateur painted pictures on the walls. The second was the insane Indonesian music which pumps at full volume from an old hi-fi which seems to be all high end and no base. Seriously, this music is insane. About 100 beats per min and super high energy. I have never heard anything like this. But it does actually help keep you pumped up!

This gym has:
  • DIY dumbbells
  • Incline Barbell bench
  • Decline Barbell bench
  • Flat barbell bench
  • Leg raises machine.
  • Dips bars
  • Easy bar
  • Hammer curl bar
  • Mystery weight Dumbbells
  • Lat pulldown machine
This gym has no fans, or air-con, and there is not even a receptionist in this gym so don't think about getting water or a sweat towel there so you will need to bring everything you might want. There is a small shop just across the road so you can buy water and redbull there if you need to.

Whilst I was there, this gym was mainly used by several hench, heavily tattooed, Indonesian gyms. These guys all seem to do volume training and seem to pump out endless sets for arms and chest everyday. Even though they might look scary, they were all friendly once we got chatting so don't let then put you off.

The gym does have t-shirts and vests for sale, but they only have extra large left, so no chance to get a vest from this gym. I was a little sad. No, that isn't sad. Shut up.

Who is this gym for? This gym doesn't have any cardio equipment, so it is only for lifters. With a little imagination you can get a half decent workout here, but I wouldn't want to have to train here for any long period of time.

Tips: The entrance fee to this gym is 20,000 rps (approx £1). There are no staff in this gym, so you need to go to the tourist office next door to the right and pay the lady there.
