Review: CLB gym T&V Fitness is oddly tucked away in a local sports complex behind the famous Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theatre. The gym its-self is set in a sprawling local fitness complex in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City and provides a decent alternative to Mach's gym. I had a wander around the sports complex on my way out and saw a number of different sports areas, including tennis, basketball, volleyball and badminton courts. I also saw open air classes for a number of other sports, such as martial arts and even break dancing, as you can see in the photos below.
T&V Fitness is a pretty big gym, spread out over several rooms and encompassing a small studio space for classes and yoga. The gym was opened in 2014, so everything here is pretty new. There is air condition and wifi and the gym is predominantly machine based, but there are also heavyweight dumbbells and a squat rack. I think this may be the biggest collection of weight machines that I have seen since we entered Vietnam, so it is perfect if you prefer to train in this way. Strangely, they do not have any barbell benches in this gym at all, so if you want to train chest its either a dumbbell workout or using the squat rack as a makeshift bench.
Equipment wise this gym has:
- Dumbbells up to 50kg
- Adjustable benches
- Squat rack
- Olympic bars
- Fixed weight straight bars up to 50kg
- Easy bars
- Smith machine
- Cables
- Lat pulldown
- Calf raise machine
- Leg press machine
- Leg extension machine
- Leg curl machine
- Thigh abductor machines
- Pec Dec
- Pullover machine
- Seated low row machine
- Rear fly machine
- Lat pulldown machine
- Chest press machine
- Incline chest press machine
- Bicep machines x 2
- Assisted dips / pull-up bar
- Wobble boards
- Various abs machines
- Treadmill
- Static bikes
- Cross-trainers
- Swiss balls
- Bosu boards
- Medicine balls
- Kettle bells
- Studio
The gym also offers a number of different classes, including yoga, pilates, zumba and "sexy dancing." I have no idea what this class entails, but if anyone is brave enough to find out please do let me know in the comments below. You can check out a full version of the timetable here.
The gym sold water and isotonic drinks, but they didn't seem to have protein shakes on sale when I went there. You can check out my guide to finding supplements in South East Asia here.
Who is this gym for? The sports complex mainly seems to be used by locals and I think I was the only westener in this gym when I went. However, the gym did have a professional set up and the environment felt safe and friendly. I would recommend this gym to anyone looking to train in this area, regardless of sex or ability level.
Tips: If you are looking to play sports or rent a court to play with friends, then this may well be the place for you. You can check out the gym's website above and they should be able to point you in the right direction.
